Due to the changes in the traffic, economy and with the permanent increase of the population, during the second half of the nineteenth century, many handcrafts have revived. Many trading stores were opened and Tuesday became the market day. These new circumstances brought significant changes in Gostivar. The Merchants from Veles and Tetovo and the craftsmen from Kichevo and Krushevo among the others, contributed in founding of the Gostivar bazaar. In that time new crafts appeared to meet the demands of the time. There were saddlers, tinkers, coppersmiths and goldsmiths among others. Today, many of those crafts are on the brink of complete extinction and are only vague memories of Gostivars.
Today Gostivar is very important city in the west part of Macodonia.
